Let’s tackle life to-do’s together, COVID-19 style!
This pandemic may have exposed many to a potentially threatening virus but we have another pandemic running alongside called “loneliness”. It has been around for some time now and makes a strong argument in the connection between increased functional decline. For some of us, we were already living in isolation or with loneliness pre Covid-19.
Although the big discussion focuses on seniors, who indeed are vulnerable, this affects millions more around the world. Thanks to the pandemic, awareness of risks posed by senior isolation has increased yet the need to recognize the problem for many others falls short.
Even those who don’t live alone can experience negative effects from loneliness and may already be facing other health related issues like anxiety, depression, eating or sleeping disorders, stress or immune related conditions. The list goes on. The impacts are real and the long term effects can be debilitating and more costly in the end. Learning about ways to manage loneliness is a start but taking action may be the hardest step for some.
Finding companionship to combat loneliness may take on a new meaning for some. Be it joining a virtual book club to help you make new friends and chat on a regular basis, or hiring a compatible personal assistant to help tackle chores together. Either way, you are finding ways to manage your loneliness, stay connected and remain productive.
As someone who is self-employed, cared for my husband during his cancer journey, raising a puppy, managing a household and myself, I can attest, loneliness, along with anxiety and depression are REAL and remain unless we learn, like anything else, to manage them.
For years, I have been learning to manage my anxiety and until recently, I was unable to admit that I too, face feelings of loneliness and yes, I do get “stuck”. Although motivation and support is all around us, it starts from within. I created this business because I believe we as a society need help getting back up sometimes, and finding a compatible assistant may be just the solution.
If you are feeling overwhelmed and noticing greater difficulty with certain tasks, I’m here to help fill in the gaps when life gets challenging. Together we can accomplish more and will complete, simplify, delegate or even eliminate tasks that no longer suit your lifestyle.
